Doom Bar

Doom Bar is a small sized 20x32cm framed seascape painted in oil on board. Painted with rich texture in blue, green and sand, the painting brings a sense of calm and tranquility.

I build up layers of paint to give a sense of depth. Clouds, sea and waves are created by flicking paint at the canvas and smoothing it in to bring energy and movement to the artwork. This process gives a semi abstract feel to the sea an the sky.

My work is about capturing moments. It could be the beach that I went to as a child, or on a family holiday, or the view from my daily country walk. Images may be based on a fleeting memory or a place that is visited over and over, each time seeing something different.

I aim to capture the essence of the place and the feeling that makes its special, maybe the sweep of the shore or curve of the land.

The painting is signed with initials on the back.
